The Gippsland All Stars carnival culminated last Sunday at the Ted Sommerton Reserve in Moe with three grand finals.
Eastern Gippsland, which encompasses from Rosedale to the border, dominated the under 13s, winning impressively by 61 points.
So dominant was the Eastern team, its opponent Western Gippsland didn’t kick its first goal until late in the final term.
The Eastern side was coached by Maffra Football Netball Club games record holder, Winston Gieschen.
Best afield, Ryder Gieschen, had a day out up forward kicking six goals, well supported by Kai Boyle and Charlie Young who chipped in with two apiece.
Other good players for Eastern were Nash Monaghan, Jack Bartlett, Young, Ace Burgiel and Kobe Parsons.
Southern Gippsland defeated Western Gippsland in the under 14 match by three points.
Southern led by 15 points at three quarter time, but Western kicked five goals to three in the final term, playing some inspired football, but it wasn’t quite enough to get them over the line.
Eastern Gippsland was no match for Latrobe Valley in the second half of the under 15 grand final.
Latrobe Valley was a comprehensive winner by 29 points, with Harry Bartlett, Angus Tanner, Leo Stephenson, Harley Young, Sam Phillips and Koda Tuau among the best for Eastern.
