With three rounds to go fourth place is still up for grabs in the Omeo District Football Netball League.
Swifts Creek has a two-point advantage over a struggling Buchan, with an inform Swan Reach a further four points back, their chances slim but not impossible.
Buchan will be at home to Bruthen, who was brave in its determined win over am improving Swift Creek last week.
After showing plenty of promise early in the season, the Cavemen have been terrible in recent weeks, culminating in a 199-point thrashing by the Alpine Ranges in the mountains last Saturday.
The Bulldogs are ticking along nicely, although probably not quite at the level yet to claim a big scalp like Lindenow South or Omeo Benambra. They should a do number on the hapless Cavemen.
Swifts Creek will host Lindenow South, both sides keen to bounce back after losses in round 12.
The Demons will be looking to include some runners after being forced to go into last week’s game with a number of talls because of unavailability which ultimately was their undoing against the Bruthen.
If they can get the mix right and take to the field at close to full strength, an upset is a possibility.
Swan Reach will be looking for its third win in succession, welcoming Omeo Benambra, who were quickly back on song after a recent hiccup against Lindenow South.
It will be interesting to see how the Swans, desperate to bank another four points in hopes of keeping the finals dream alive, match up against the current premiership favourite.
In full flight, the Alpine Ranges are great to watch, playing an exciting and attacking brand of football under new coach Josh Piper.
