Local netball and hockey teams came together in early August to celebrate the use of the modern fit-for-purpose facilities at their new pavilion at the WORLD Sporting Precinct in Bairnsdale.
The pavilion comprises four gender neutral and umpire change rooms, amenities and a first aid room.
There is a dedicated function space that is furnished to accommodate 80 seated patrons, with a commercial kitchen with two canteens to service east and west sporting fields and courts.
The building has state-of-the art toilet facilities and disabled access across the building and precinct.
East Gippsland Shire Council has worked hard on the project, working with the communities to ask what they want and then how it can be achieved together.
The hockey and netball pavilion is now home to the Bairnsdale Netball Association, East Gippsland Hockey Association, Bairnsdale Hockey Club, Nagle Hockey Club, Swan Reach Hockey Club.
The versatile facilities serve various purposes beyond sports, with the new WORLD Pavilion now a valuable asset for the community and available for hire.
The function space with its commercial kitchen and makes it an ideal venue for a wide range of community events including social gatherings, meetings, workshops and classes.
