The first of three Summer Series events was held at the Buchan Motel last Saturday afternoon.
Guests were entertained by the sublime voice of Rachel Jameson, who played a number of well-known songs and as a songwriter, also played some of her own songs.
“Our booked-out event was enjoyed by all,” organiser, Kirstie Pearce said.
“It was amazing, there was a very relaxed and chilled vibe on the hilltop up here at the motel.
“Even though it was a warm day there was a beautiful breeze out on the verandah, and Rachel’s acoustic style suited so well. She has a new album coming out very soon.
“It was wonderful to hear the crowd enjoying the experience.”
Kirstie said the tasting grazing platters were provided by the Willow Buchan Valley Café and did not disappoint, with other highlights of the day including the Australiana Spritz using gin from Logan’s Microdistillery, craft beer from Red Bluff Brewery near Lakes Entrance and boutique wines from Lightfoots Winery at Calulu.
New Buchan Motel managers, Kirstie and Paul Pearce, were happy their first event was booked out and they look forward to hosting the next event on January 13, 2024.
“The hilltop will be alive with the sound of music from Mitch and Pete, a well known duo from Bairnsdale,” Kirstie said.
“We are really looking forward to the next event and showcasing local talent, local food, our local businesses, local beers, wines and gins.
“East Gippsland is well known for our fine food and drinks, and this is another opportunity to showcase that and provide our guests with a wonderful experience here on the hill.”
