East Gippsland Photographic Society is having its first meeting for 2024 tonight, 7pm for a 7.30pm start at the Hub Community Centre.
If you have an interest in taking photos, whether with a camera or a phone, and meeting like-minded people you are welcome to head along to see if the club is for you.
“We also have Zoom set up to encourage people to join in when they live further afield. We have some presentations and judges use zoom when distance mid-week is an issue,” Veronica Curtis said.
“This Wednesday we have a presentation on ‘The Photographers Dozen’, how to take better photos, by Vicki Jesty, a well-known local photographer and club member.”
The club has monthly meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Hub. It also has a monthly outing and occasional weekends away.
“These are a great way to get to know other photographers and learn from each other. We also have quality guest speakers and competitions,” Veronica said.
“Eighteen members have just spent three days at Falls Creek staying at Myrtleford lodge. We had a variety of weather, hot, foggy and wet but all made for great photos of beautiful vistas, mountain huts, wildflowers and amazing snow gum trees.
“We also had a day out Saturday to Sale wetlands and a mystery tour on the way back to Bairnsdale.”
