Moogji is working alongside DEECA (Department of Energy, Environment, and Climate Action) to achieve positive results controlling feral pigs.
The Landscape Feral Pig Control Project is currently being run throughout eastern Victoria as part of DEECA’s Statewide Invasive Species Program.
Sam Carey, the leader of Moogji’s fauna team, is spearheading the project alongside his trusted colleague, Jake Martin.
Moogji is currently undertaking two to three trips a week checking monitoring cameras and servicing HOGGONE bait stations in the Dellicknora, Bonang and Goongerah areas.
Additionally, DEECA is supplying Moogji with a new aluminium trap paired with a 4G camera to assist in the real-time trapping of feral pigs.
Moogji is looking forward to the expansion of the Feral Pig Project with new runs commencing early 2024.
Moogji will be expanding their areas of monitoring
to include a Far East run, which is located in and around Genoa and a Far West run which will be located in and around Benambra.
The Moogji Crew enjoy being part of this project, improving and conserving the natural landscape through controlling feral pig numbers now and for the future.
If you have feral pigs in your area, see signs of any feral pig damage, or would like more information
about this project then please contact DEECA via email.
This project is funded through the Victorian
Government’s Protecting Biodiversity program.
