Jesuit Social Services’s East Gippsland monthly support group is spreading its wings.
The group this week held its first monthly session in Sale and will continue to do so on the first Tuesday of each month at the Star Hotel Sails Function Room.
The group is described as providing a safe space to connect with others bereaved by suicide who understand and care.
“We have been running a support group in Warragul for the past four years. This group has been very beneficial for people grieving the loss of their loved ones who have died from suicide,” group leader David Hobbs said.
“It is run by three volunteers with lived experience and run through Jesuits Social Services. It provides a safe space for people to come and talk with other people who have been through this devastating loss in a kind, caring and non judgmental way.
“The Jesuits also run other groups in Melbourne and the Macedon Ranges.
“Due to the group expanding and people traveling from as far as Sale and Lakes Entrance we feel the need to start an East Gippsland group.”
