Big time boxing will return to Sale on March 23, when “Wild” Will Tomlinson’s Wildfighter brand will host “The Champ is Here” promotion.
The night will feature Stratford superstar, Max Reeves, in the first defence of his Australian super middleweight title which he won in September against Joe Corner.
The unbeaten Reeves is returning to the ring for his 10th professional fight after recently recovering from a broken leg which required surgery.
Reeves who is currently on a training camp in Asia, will fight Queensland journeyman, Adrian Rodriquez.
Eastcoast Boxing Club, coach, Paul Carroll said Reeves is in great shape and raring to go.
“Max has been working hard and is in great shape, the gym is buzzing and we look set for a big year, hopefully the fights will fall into place,” Carroll said.
Blake Wells will also feature on the card, fighting as a middleweight after training hard over Christmas determined to make 2024 his year.
It’s been five years since Wells fought as a middleweight, but he’s excited by the opportunities the lower weight might bring.
“I’d love to get into the ring with someone like (Michael) Zerafa,” Wells said.
Wells will fight Filipino veteran, Arnel Tinampay, who has never been stopped in his 55-fight career.
The night will also see the local football club rivalry intensify between, Sale and Maffra when Daniel Bedggood (Maffra) and Jack Johnson (Sale) slug it out in the ring.
Tickets are on sale now.
