The Gippsland Motorplex complex is up and running after being abandoned for more than 12 months.
A group of enthusiastic locals formed a committee before Christmas, and have worked hard to get the venue back to working order.
They mostly started from scratch, but with the support of the community they are up and running.
Unfortunately things aren’t totally rosy, with the complex’s lease due expire in October, as the East Gippsland Shire Council looks to extend the airport.
Members are on the lookout for a new venue but so far efforts are yet to bare fruit.
The group says the motorplex gives the opportunity to get hoons off the street and give them a safe place to learn how to control a car.
The complex hosted a car show last week, which was a massive success and huge achievement for the fledgling organisation group, with over 100 cars filling the
pad.
This Saturday there will be plenty of action, with the club running its first test and tune event, which is expected to draw a huge audience.
Gates will open at 6am at 150 Aerodrome Road.
