On Australia Day for many years the group has given an award to a junior citizen. This year Danika Woods was the recipient. Danika exemplifies true resilience in the face of adversity. Despite encountering obstacles in her learning environment due to a disability, she emerged as an outstanding role model and achieved the distinction of being the first person in her family to graduate from high school.
Her selflessness and unwavering commitment to service others were evident in her active participation in Project Ready where she not only completed the program the previous years, but also dedicated time each week to support disengaged students.
President Olivia Harwood was pleased to give Danika a monetary award with a certificate for 2024.
Other donations went out to Neighbourhood House for meal vouchers and group project which this year is A Better Life for Foster Kids.
Dignity bags will be delivered to the hospital.
