Paynesville Lions Club’s Daris Olsauskas was recently inducted as a Lions life member.
Daris has provided fantastic service as a Lion for 22 years – 10 at Berridale (New South Wales), 11 at Beechworth and one at Paynesville.
Daris received glowing reports from Berridale and Beechworth of dedicated and enthusiastic participation in all Lions activities.
He was seen by all as a “real gentleman”.
At Berridale he was sponsored by Stuart Reid and assisted him to introduce rotational grazing on his property. He was concerned to promote sound environmental outcomes.
At Beechworth he was valued for his organisational and strategic planning skills.
In particular he helped initiate and organise the beautiful Lions Memorial Walk – an avenue of magnificent scarlet oaks near Lake Sambell.
He served as vice president in 2014.
At Paynesville Daris has quickly become involved in Lions Club activities.
He has initiated the club’s involvement as a sponsor of a Smith Family child and recently organised a card to be sent to her for her 10th birthday.
He has established himself as a valuable member of the food van team, always flexible and helpful.
Professionally he has 25 years experience in rural and regional planning. He is highly qualified in urban and regional planning and agricultural management. He has been employed by rural local governments and as a private consultant. (Next job: Replan Paynesville’s development).
In another side of his community service he has helped organise the Parkinson Group Walk, personally participating and raising $14,000.
All in all, a fantastic Lions and professional career always with community development and service in mind.
