Based at the Riviera Christian Church site in Bairnsdale, a men’s shed called The Armoury is a relatively new establishment, opening after the Black Summer Bushfires.
Like many men’s sheds, The Armoury is focused on promoting men’s mental health and giving them an outlet to talk and make them feel at home.
They focus on topics such as depression, anxiety and grief.
It’s also a place for men to work on various projects, such as building raised garden beds and benches, as well as repurposing wood for kindling bags and fence palings to be sold.
The profits made from these sales go back to The Armoury to fund their barbecues and other events.
The group is always looking for new community projects to help out in, and often collaborate with other men’s sheds, such as Lakes Entrance and Twin Rivers, to give a hand where they can.
The Armoury is inviting members of the public to attend their annual event on Friday, March 15, at 6pm.
There will be live music, a free barbecue, giveaways and more.
The Armoury is open on Thursdays from 9am and every second Friday from 5pm – check out their Facebook page for more information.
