CWA Bairnsdale Amaroo Branch’s trialled an evening meeting last Tuesday, 6pm to 8pm, however the April meeting will return to the morning on Tuesday, April 2, at 9.30am for a cuppa and chat to start.
Meetings are held in the bridge club hall next to the railway station. Visitors are welcome to join.
President Olivia Harwood welcomed the members.
East Gippsland CWA group held an annual general meeting and half-yearly conference at the home of Paynesville Toonalook branch on Tuesday, February 27, with members from Bairnsdale Amaroo and Orbost.
Jenny Tuck (group president) was in the chair, while state office representative, Viv Speight, attended and brought news and reports from head office to keep members in the loop.
Reports were given from each branch of their activities through the year.
A cheque was then given to Heather from A Better Life for Foster Kids for money raised by the branches.
Each year the group has a project that the branches work towards.
“At the meeting on March 5, reports were given from Karen, our craft leader. Our craft day is Tuesday, April 4, from 10am to 2pm, at Clifton Waters Village, Wy Yung, bring your own lunch,” Olivia said.
“Joann gave an interesting report on the history of Romania. Our product of study is pulses and Lois made some nibbles made from these pulses. Lois also gave her Almoner’s report.
Jenny Crane had a birthday and was presented with a card.
“Twenty-five bereavement bags had been made by the members at our craft days and were presented to Vicki Gillick at the hospital by Olivia and Karen.”
