Rejuvenated Ensay sprinter, Doctor Coto is low flying and will head to Bairnsdale on Sunday to tackle the BM58 over the 1000 metres.
Now an eight-year-old, Doctor Coto recorded his third win on the picnic circuit in his last five starts when successful on Sunday at Woolamai, with popular jockey Caitlin King in the saddle.
In February, Doctor Coto recorded wins at Buchan and Woolamai, wedged in between the wins were seconds at Moe and Hinnomunjie.
It’s the Moe placing that has trainer, Rob Gillahan most excited.
“He’s loving racing at the moment, he’s showing plenty of zest and his placing at Moe indicates he can still mix it with the professional gallopers in the right grade,” Gillahan said.
Now a winner of 10 his 67 starts, Doctor Coto has won five races for the Gillahan stable since joining the team in June 2022.
Gillahan, a shearer, trains a small team on his property, tasting plenty of success on the picnic circuit, while being more than capable of getting a roughie up at the professional tracks around Gippsland.
