Bairnsdale Joey Scouts attended the Junior Ranger program at Gumbuya World as a part of their Junior Landcare work on Saturday, March 16.
Joey Scouts got to meet many of the animals at Gumbuya World including koalas, lizards, frogs, turtles, snakes, birds and dingos.
The Joey Scouts worked with the rangers at the park to help prepare snacks for some and learnt all about the animals different habitat requirements.
They got hands-on, getting to touch and learn about koala poo and how it smells like eucalypt when you squash it.
Bairnsdale Joey Scouts received a Junior Landcare Grant in 2023 to learn about native animals and their habitats.
Last year they visited Koalas of Raymond Island and helped to raise funds to support their work. Next term they will be undertaking tree planting on Raymond Island to create new animal habitat.
