Easter is set to be a great couple of days in Paynesville, with entertainment at the Paynesville Community Hall behind the library 11-12.30pm on Saturday and Sunday, and on the Floating Tin Shed along the foreshore from 12.30-2.30 on Sunday.
The two days will feature an interactive kids show brought by the Sydney Puppet Theatre, face painting, live music and, of course, a visit from the Easter Bunny.
The Easter weekend will wrap up a busy start to the year for the organising committee, who have worked hard to get the events off the ground.
“Our committee of five would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing local businesses and community members who supported our fundraising campaign for the 2024 Paynesville fireworks and summer music program on the Tin Shed,” organiser, Tamara Cook, said.
“When it looked as though the Fireworks event wouldn’t go ahead in 2022/23, we knew we had to take action to ensure this important tradition continued for our community and visitors. “Southern Cross Fireworks delivered a spectacular fireworks display with people on boats and on the shore enjoying the show.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive business community and locals who have contributed to the Go Fund me page to bring so much joy to Paynesville.
“Additionally, we received a grant from the Federal Government Building Stronger Communities program which was instrumental in delivering entertainment to the community.
“And of course none of this would happen without the hard work and passion from the masterminds behind the Tin Shed, Bernie and Ruth Ryan.
“From putting the Paynesville Christmas tree up to making human sized Christmas bells for the town and of course coming up with crazy ideas for the Tin Shed.
“They really are Paynesville’s legends. And they do it all just to see smiles on everyone’s faces”.
People can support the Floating Tin Shed by donating cans and bottles at the depot on the Slip Road.
