Bairnsdale boxer, Lucy “The Savage” Avage returned to the ring in style on Saturday in Sale with an impressive victory.
Avage came out attacking from the start, peppering Sydney opponent, Mel Ristevski, with an array of body and head punches.
The fight was a rematch of last year’s Wildfighter event in Sale, where Avage also was victorious over Ristevski.
Taking advantage of her height and reach advantage, Avage was quickly in control of the fight, not allowing Ristevski any time to settle and get into her range and rhythm.
After landing some big blows in centre ring and dominating Ristevski on the ropes, the referee called an end to the fight after just 56 seconds, such was the power and precision of Avage.
Not surprisingly, Avage was chuffed with her effort after the victory.
“It’s great to win, I’m getting more confidence, although I was a little nervous in front of the crowd tonight,” Avage said.
With limited fight experience, the super fit Avage is keen to see some more action in the near future.
“Tonight was great and felt good, I’m keen to get some bouts under my belt, probably at amateur level this year,” Avage said.
Coach, Paul Carroll was impressed with the improvement of Avage.
“She’s evolving all the time, she had a clear plan tonight and executed it perfectly, it was certainly impressive,” Carroll said.
