Metung chaser, Lakeview Emily, will start a short priced favourite in the $220,000 Launching Pad final to be held at Sandown on Thursday night.
The fastest heat and semi final winner will exit from box two in the $150,000 to the winner after winning her semi-final from box one in a slick 29.31 seconds.
Trained by Harley Whelan, the Lakeview Kennels owned flier was bred by Peter and Monique Whelan, and already has an impressive record, with six win from 14 starts, banking grateful connections $52,110 in the process.
Harley Whelan expects the winner of her last three starts to be hard to beat.
“She’s low flying and improving all the time, on paper she should get a great run early, with a slow beginner drawn either side,” Harley said.
Lakeview Emily took a while to hit her straps but has been a revolution in the last couple of months, winning five of her last six starts.
Five of her six wins have been at the Sandown track, which isn’t lost on Harley Whelan.
“She loves the track and is racing with plenty of confidence, hopefully the luck goes our way in the final,” Whelan said.
The Launching Pad series is for greyhounds with one to six wins, with no more than 30 starts when the series begins.
