A fundraiser will be held this Sunday at the South Pines Golf Club to raise funds for three Gippsland basketballers who are embarking on the trip of a lifetime.
Bairnsdale’s Will Guy and Taydyn Perry, along with Traralgon’s Brooklyn Fue are all part of the Australian team that will compete in the AUSA Puma Cup tournament in June in the states.
The participants are required to fund their own trip, so a number of local parties have joined together to assist.
All three players represent Gippsland United in the Victorian Junior Basketball League which is played on Friday nights, mostly in the Melbourne are, with the occasional home game in Traralgon.
The boys have endured three torrid and emotionally draining training sessions, competing with 1500 youngsters for place on the team that will be in America for three-and-a-half weeks.
Sunday’s event will be a four person ambrose, with a $20 entry per player, with the event being a 9am shotgun start.
