The Bairnsdale Football Netball Club conducted its 40th Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal on Good Friday.
Players, officials and volunteers rattled the tins on the highway in Bairnsdale and collected $8000 dollars on behalf of the appeal.
The Bairnsdale Football Club first started officially collecting on behalf of the Royal Children’s Hospital in the mid 1980’s, with the first appeals were conducted at Peter Dullard Ford and donations were received in person or pledges were made over the phone.
In the late 80’s the appeal was then coordinated through the offices of King and Heath, with the current street collection beginning in the mid 1990’s and continues till present day.
Bairnsdale president, Michael Mann is delighted that the club can assist with such a great cause for a place that has touched the hearts of so many.
This year’s appeal raised almost 24 million dollars.
