The upcoming ride for the Tambo Upper Trail Riding Club will be in the Fernbank/Glenaladale area on Sunday, April 21.
It will be led by local resident and longstanding club member, Lionel Rose.
Lionel has been busy mapping out the ride and checking out for damage from recent storms.
The bush in the Limpyers Road area offers diverse riding with small gullies and thick scrubby areas opening up to clear bush.
Open tracks and four-wheel drive tracks will also be featured.
There are no significant hills to negotiate so a high level of fitness is not required.
The ground underfoot is mainly loamy and soft.
Unmounted muster will be at 9.45am and ride out time will be 10am, take a saddlebag lunch. To get to the start turn onto Limpyers Lane off the Fernbank-Glenaladale Road. At the T junction turn right and stay right to follow the fenceline to the starting point.
The March ride was in the Wattle Creek area north of Wuk Wuk. Christa Treasure stepped up as lead rider with 16 riders joining in.
The group set off along the pretty Wattle Creek Track rising slowly to Parkers Road. The horses were steady and walked out freely with lots of chatter among the riders who were enjoying the open tracks.
A leisurely lunch stop was enjoyed beside a picturesque water hole. The riders remounted and headed down Roaring Mag Track into the Mitchell River National Park.
The track offered a variety of terrain and a higher degree of difficulty than the morning ride.
The horses were tested by a steep rocky hill negotiated with a couple of recovery stops before an easier route back to the floats.
Tambo Upper Trail Rides are held in various locations on the third Sunday of every month.
New members are always welcome.
The 2020 calendar is available on the club Facebook page or at local saddlers.
