Wellington and East Gippsland Learn Locals are ready to support adult learners to succeed at employment and further study pathways.
Learn Locals provide Adult Community and Further Education (ACFE) to Wellington and East Gipplanders in Paynesville, Buchan, Orbost, Heyfield, Sale, Mallacoota and surrounding communities.
Wellington/East Gippsland Learn Local project worker, Christine Brooks, said Learn Locals were committed to supporting and guiding Wellington East Gippsland communities through flexible and accessible learning programs in 2024.
“This includes highly regarded and industry supported Get Ready For Work and Kick Start Your Career programs, our Money Matters programs and all things Digital courses,” Ms Brooks said.
“Learn Local learners are supported to actively participate throughout their training, through programs and activities that are designed to help students gain the confidence and skills needed to return to work or go on to further study.
“So if you are looking to return to work or wanting to change careers Learn Local is the place to start. Our programs are supportive, small groups, offered in local communities, affordable and meet the mutual obligation requirements through Workforce Australia.
“There’s a registered Learn Local provider in Wellington and East Gippsland to support you, help you to think about job opportunities, improve your digital and computer skills, your reading, writing and maths skills, and your financial management skills. They can help you return to study, gain a qualification and help develop your employability skills.”
One of the important features of Learn Local programs is connection to local industry especially in the Get Ready For Work and Kick Start Your Career programs.
The next Kick Start Your Career: Health program starting on May 14 in Sale is being held in conjunction with Central Gippsland Health and will connect participants to entry level non medical employment opportunities in health, hospitality, support services, personal care, catering, maintenance and more.

Other term two courses include: basic and intermediate computers and all things digital, hospitality and barista, get ready for work and kick start programs in community services and health, money matters for women. All programs are available throughout Wellington and East Gippsland communities.
The next Digital and Mobile Phone program is being offered through the Bairnsdale Library starting on April 16 over five weeks and covers the basics about all your devices including mobile phones and tablets.
