It continues to be a busy time on the bowling greens with several championships culminating in recent weeks.
The Gippsland Bowls Region (GBR) champion pairs concluded at Heyfield on Sunday with Lakes Entrance’s Hayden and Brad Lancaster winning the men’s and the Stratford combination of Leonie Flynn and Kirsty White defeating the gallant Maffra pair of Shirley Millard and Jean Downes in the ladies’ finals.
Paynesville’s George Lambos and Darren Martin were runners-up to the Lancasters in the final, going down 13-18.
A number of GBR have received some credible results in the Victorian Championships in recent weeks.
Sale’s Andrew Bell made it through to the semi finals of the men’s champion of champion singles, while Sale’s Gail McKenzie and Yarram’s Alan Watts were silver medalists in the mixed pairs.
The Lindenow fours combination of Jack Sharman, Michael Better, Dave Tong and Phill Manning made the semi finals of the fours, while there were several combinations that made their way to the quarter finals before bowing out.
