There were mixed results for the Bairnsdale netballers, sharing the six matches with Maffra last Saturday at the Bairnsdale City Oval.
The Redlegs broke through for their second win of the season in “A” grade, opening up a seven-goal lead at quarter time off the back of a strong, tight defence, exceptional court pressure and accurate shooting.
From there the effort continued to blossom, Bairnsdale eventually running out 27-goal winners, 53-26.
Anna Mooney was in great form around the ring, shooting 41 goals, joined in the best by Alison Dwyer, Sally Deller and Tayla Falconer.
The Redlegs were competitive in “B” grade, dropping off the pace late, going down by six goals, with Kayla Neilson and Sophie Bills both having good games.
In the game of the day, the Eagles dominated the last quarter to win the “C” grade match by four goals.
Nothing separated the two sides for the first three quarters as they exchanged goals, with Vicky Waddell and Brooke Soulsby standouts for Bairnsdale.
The Bairnsdale under 17s played four consistent quarters, registering their third win from four outings. Currently sitting fifth on the ladder, the Redlegs play an attractive brand, which creates plenty of turnovers from the opposition.
Ash Smith and Eve Sabell were in the thick of the action for Bairnsdale.
The unbeaten under 15s went on their winning way, showing why they sit on top of the ladder, 24-goal victors over the Eagles.
The young side played a composed game which saw their opposition apply some very physical pressure, but accurate shooting and brilliant ball movement was the difference between the two sides.
Tahlia Chila and Emme Hadden led the way for the young Redlegs.
It was tough day for the under 13s taking on a very strong and well drilled Maffra side.
The Redlegs persisted for four quarters but Maffra was the winner by 26 goals, Halle Davis and Roxie Jackson serviceable for Bairnsdale.
