Take your event to the next level

in Food, Art & Entertainment

Event organisers who would like to learn some tools to deliver safe, successful, and sustainable events are invited to a free Events Masterclass session in Bairnsdale tonight.

The East Gippsland Shire Council workshops support council’s commitment to supporting organisers to establish vibrant and responsible community events.

Mayor, Cr Tom Crook, said the events masterclass aims to equip event

managers with the essential strategies and insights needed to navigate the complexities of event planning while prioritising safety, sustainability, and community impact.

“The keynote speakers bring a wealth of expertise and passion to the table,” Cr Crook said.

“Sandy Keath, a grant specialist from ‘Grantable’, has a rich background in both seeking and making grants.

“Council’s own Waste Minimisation and Sustainability officer Carina Turner is committed to transforming waste

management practices. They will be joined by Jason Rahilly, a key player in Australia’s event resource recovery and reuse movement.”

Ms Keath, with her sharp critical thinking and careful planning, is dedicated to helping applicants secure the perfect grants for their projects.

Ms Turner, the Waste Minimisation and Sustainability officer at council, strives to reduce landfill waste and encourage responsible consumption in the region using innovative solutions.

Jason (Jace) Rahilly, the Director of B-Alternative, will share valuable insights into reducing, recycling, and promoting sustainability at events.

The masterclass is free and includes dinner.

The same masterclass will be run in Lakes Entrance and Bairnsdale.

The masterclass will be held at Bairnsdale RSL, 2 Forge Creek Road from 5.30 – 8pm.

“Events are an opportunity for social connection for our community members, and many events also support our economy by attracting visitors to our region.

This presentation will explore strategies for minimising the environmental footprint of community events, which is a positive for event organisers and attendees,” Cr Crook said.

The masterclass will cover topics such as creating projects eligible for grants, crafting persuasive grant applications, implementing efficient waste management plans, and promoting recycling and sustainability initiatives.

By focusing on planning and intentionality, attendees will gain valuable insights into mitigating the negative environmental impacts commonly associated with such events.

This is a must-attend event for anyone involved in organising community events within East Gippsland.

Don’t miss this opportunity to gain expert insights and network with like-minded individuals committed to creating positive change through events.
