Community Bank Paynesville and District earlier this year awarded five local students scholarships to university in 2024.
This is the first year the branch has provided scholarships through its funding program which invited local year 12 students residing in the Paynesville area to apply once they had received an offer to study a Bachelor Degree at University in 2024.
The branch made the decision to provide the scholarships to local Paynesville and district students who attended Nagle College, Bairnsdale Secondary College or Gippsland Grammar in 2023, to assist them with their move to Melbourne and help with university costs, including accommodation, computer equipment and textbooks.
The five successful applicants, Tom Selleck, Jessica Bradley, Leah Brutovic, Monty Richardson and Georgia Shell, were thrilled to be selected to receive a scholarship which will help give them every opportunity to achieve their dreams of further education.
“The Community Bank Branch Scholarship Program is a transformative undertaking that changes the lives of local students, strengthens communities for the long term and is a tangible example of the good that banking with us can achieve,” chair of the Community Bank Paynesville, Janet McLeod, said.
“Our young people are our future, and we believe they deserve the best support possible to help forge their careers and achieve their dreams. We wish Tom, Jessica, Leah, Monty and Georgia the very best with their studies in Melbourne and look forward to hearing about their first year at university.”
The Community Bank – Paynesville and District Scholarship is funded through the Community Enterprise Foundation scholarship program, which partners with local Community Bank branches. Since 2012, the program has supported over 1230 students nationwide, with more than $6.34M in funding invested in the future of the youth.
