Applications for the Gippsland Food and Fibre Awards have been extended to Sunday, April 14.
A spokesperson said the decision had been made after careful consideration and consultation with sponsors and applicants.
“Our celebratory evening will also be rescheduled to Friday, May 31,” the spokesperson said.
“This decision has been made following the successive, disruptive weather events experienced by Gippsland’s businesses in recent times and their considerable impacts on many of our food and fibre sector businesses and stakeholders.
“Tuesday February 13 marked the commencement of the most recent of these events, with both physical, and storm-related power outages affecting the network on an unprecedented level.
“It is our strong position that the establishment of a more equitable timeframe would provide space for potential applicants and stakeholders to progress recovery efforts and move closer to a state of business-as-usual before engaging with the awards.”
All previously submitted applications will carry over to the new date.
The celebratory evening of the awards announcement remain at the same venue, Maffco Brewery and Taphouse, and will be an evening to remember.
Prior ticket purchases will be carried over, and refunds will be available for anyone who has previously purchased a ticket but cannot attend on May 31.
Information about the awards, including how to submit an application and sponsorship opportunities, can be found on the Food & Fibre Gippsland webpage.
