Wattlewood Angus again invites the community to join them for the 2024 Beef Week open day on Sunday, January 28, at Wattlewood, Lang Lang, to view their more than 30 sale bulls that are available at their annual Autumn Bull Sale on March 14, and the females behind their impressive sale bull line up.
The sire verified bulls at Wattlewood have come from foundation stock that go back to some of the best cow families in the Angus breed including Barunah, Acacia, Ella, and Esther. These females have come together with the industry’s leading sires in Texas Iceman, Chiltern Park Moe, Sydgen Enhance and Sitz Stellar.
The animals are in their best health to achieve the best reproductive performance and longevity. The 30 bulls that will be included in their on-farm sale that is interfaced with AuctionsPlus have all been vaccinated with 7in1, Pestigard, Rhinogard and Vibrovax as well as being semen tested.
Wattlewood’s breeding philosophy is to have structurally correct, quiet animals that perform in a package that buyers want to and enjoy owning. Wattlewood has potential stud and herd sires available that are among the best in the breed for birth weight, growth, structure, and carcass EBV’s.
When various traits are calculated, there are bulls in the 2024 sale that are top performers in every index the Angus breed has.
Also on display will be some special heifers that have been used to help young kids learn about cattle and animal husbandry.
The eight to 10-year-old children have worked with these heifers to prepare them for the autumn shows, gaining confidence by leading, washing, and grooming them while ultimately enjoying being involved with cattle.
Stud principal, Fiona Glover, is a big believer of getting the youth involved.
“They are the future of the beef cattle societies and the beef industry,” she said.
Sale catalogues for the March 14 Bull Sale will be available on the day or alternatively contact Fiona (details in advertisement) to have one mailed out.
While the Glovers encourage you to head along to the Beef Week open day,
