It’s always a summer of fun in Lakes Entrance and when beach netball returns to Main Beach on Saturday, January 20 for its ninth edition, you can expect smiles galore.
Beach netball has continued to push forward and with no hurdles in the way this year organisers are expecting strong representation from players and teams across the region.
Beach netball is fast, suitable for all skill levels, and great for team building. It’s also a great spectator sport.
With modified rules and only four on court at one time, everyone is a goal shooter.
Beach netball is an extension to the traditional game of netball, with the same rules and regulations.
However – the game is played on a half-court marked out in the sand and players are not required to wear shoes.
Teams can be made up of all-female and mixed, with 10 teams having already been locked in.
Lakes Entrance Netball Association (LENA), with the support of Netball Victoria and Gippsport, has been well supported in previous years, with players travelling from across Gippsland and Melbourne to compete.
“We are still looking for umpires to help us on the day,” LENA’s Kylie Curnow said.
“If they can contact us at lakesentrancena@gmail.com or via our social media it would be greatly appreciated.
“We see this as an opportunity for many local clubs to think about it for their pre-season, training and bonding.
“We are hoping to get more players and teams involved for our 10th anniversary in 2025.”
So – are you keen to play?
