The Victorian Speedway Council junior standard saloon state title will highlight a huge nights racing at the Bairnsdale Speedway on Saturday night.
The junior state title will see the best young local talent take on the state’s best young drivers in the chase to run with the number one plate.
Local representatives will be Tannah Lee, Sharni Stuchbery and Nikolas Pritchett, who will take on the leading contenders, Tom Braz, Hunter Carey (both southeast Melbourne), River Paterson (Healesville), Dyclan Sweet (Drouin), Chase Ingram (Warragul), Ella Sheedy, Bryce Leek, Cooper Joynson and Zoe Hunt.
While anything can happen and no doubt will, Braz, Paterson and Carey look to be the three to watch based on winning results this season.
The program will also see division two hot rods, standard saloons and sports sedans all looking for a win.
With an important shakedown before their own upcoming state title, the division two hot rods will be at it again with Troy Wilson, Andrew Cormack, Ben and Fraser Crittenden representing Bairnsdale.
Jordan Haley is the driver to keep an eye on as the number one driver in the state, however the locals are sure to give him a run for his money.
A big line-up of standard saloons have locked themselves in for battle this weekend with Bairnsdale members including Tyson Bretherton, Josh Thomas, Gus Argoon, Mitch Foster, Beau Stuchbery, Andrew Cormack, Craig Cormack, Ashley Cormack, Josh Cormack, Kate Stuchbery, Steven Dadswell, and Noah Greaves all among the entries.
Thomas, Argoon, Foster, Dadswell and Beau Stuchbery are drivers most likely to be in the battle for victory with visiting racers Jack Yeomans, Mark Miles, Andrew Miles, Chris Miles, Jack Braz, and Jacob Vuillermin.
Thomas, Vuillermin and Foster are always fast and hard to beat at Granite Rock.
The sports sedans have been invited to compete now that Rosedale club have a couple of members with cars.
The opportunity here is for local East Gippsland racers looking for a new challenge to start putting together race cars to represent the club in this class.
Broderick Stray and Leigh Mitchell (both Rosedale) are up against a handy field, including Jasmin Molloy, Bobby Devine, Allan Sell, Bernie Franklin, Daniel and Scott Angus.
Spectator entry begins from 1pm, with the consumption of alcohol prohibited at the venue, racing will kick off at 5:30pm.
