Put your health and wellness on top of your 2024 to-do list by starting an exercise program that puts you in the driver’s seat.
If you live with Parkinson’s disease, or type 2 diabetes, Gippsland Lakes Complete Health (GLCH) offers locally run exercise and wellness programs that can help you manage your symptoms, be more active and improve your overall quality of life.
PD Warrior is a game-changing activity and support program for people living with Parkinson’s.
Starting this later month, the innovative 10-week course combats the progress of symptoms with an exercise regime based on specially designed exercises, a positive mindset and support provided by GLCH’s skilled movement therapies team.
Tailored to individual needs, structured around personal goals and the type of Parkinson’s you have, this unique therapy approach can help you build confidence, improve mobility and help control symptoms.
Parkinson’s is a degenerative condition in the brain that affects movement and often presents as muscle stiffness, poor balance or coordination, speech difficulty and tremors in the limbs. Regular exercise is one of the few known ways to slow symptom progression.
DESMOND (Diabetes Education and Self-Management for Ongoing and Newly Diagnosed) is another evidence-based education program designed to support people living with type 2 diabetes by helping them learn practical skills for managing the chronic illness.
GLCH’s two freshly trained DESMOND program facilitators, Melissa and Amanda, will present four sessions this year starting on Tuesday, February 20. Look out for more information on this course soon.
Does someone in your family live with either of these conditions?
