Bastion Beats Festival returned for its third instalment on Friday, January 5, with a boastful lineup and perfect weather.
Bastion Beats Festival is an annual, one-day music event held in the coastal town of Mallacoota. Boasting a carefully curated selection of artists each year, Bastion offers an eclectic soundscape for attendees.
Held at the now infamous Mallacoota Golf and Country Club, Bastion Beats was born as a means of social recovery and connection following the 2019/2020 Black Summer Bushfires and has provided the perfect platform to celebrate both local and various Australian artists.
Bastion continues to harbour the growth of local acts while also inviting well established artists to bring their exciting performances to the ever-growing music scene of Mallacoota.
For 2024, Bastion boasted their biggest music programme to date with a selection of bands and DJs to carry attendees through the afternoon and evening.
Fresh off supporting the Foo Fighters on the Melbourne leg of their tour, punk-rock band Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers (TJJT) headlined the event, bringing an eclectic presence to the stage.
TJJT were supported by a plethora of talented bands and musicians, including Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird, Bananagun, Tilly VW and Birdsnake.
The night was rounded out with some talented DJs including Melbourne’s Andras who was supported by DJ Alan and local hero Old Mate.
Bastion is delivered in partnership with Music Victoria as part of the Far East Music Recovery Program, with funding from the Commonwealth Government.
