Bairnsdale Racing Club conducted a competitive nine-race program last Sunday at the Bairnsdale racecourse, highlighted by the running of the 2024 Lakes Entrance Cup.
Club officials were happy with the attendance of approximately 600 which contained 50 diners in the club’s function room.
Plenty of members were on hand to take in the racing action, with 109 starters on the program, ensuring the punters weren’t short of horse power to have a flutter on, if that was their desire.
Nine separate trainers were in winners stall, including Pakenham trainers, John Sadler, Joseph Waldron, Reece Goodwin, Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman.
Cranbourne trainers Matthew Brown, Robbie Griffiths and Matt De Kock, Shea Eden and Beautaki also tasted success.
One of the most popular wins on the day was The Great Bratski for Moe trainer, Christine Sexton.
Carleen Hefel was in outstanding form riding three winners, while Teo Nugent and Jason Maskiell both rode doubles.
Maskiell bookended the program, riding the first and last winner.
Will Price and Nathan Punch were also successful.
The weather was magnificent and the club will be keen for that to continue for their remaining five meetings for the 2024/25 season.
