Lucknow Football Netball Club has wasted no time in reappointing its 2024 senior coaches, Shaun Mooney (above) and Erica Lynch (right).
Both sides made it through to the final Saturday of the year before unfortunately going down in the grand final.
The netball side, in their first year under Lynch, only dropped one game for the year in the home and away season, before progressing straight to the grand final, finding an emerging Orbost Snowy Rovers outfit a task to big on the biggest day.
It’s was heartbreak for Lynch, who has been on the losing side of the ledger in the past three East Gippsland “A” grade netball grand finals, making her all the more determined to bounce back with vengeance in 2025.
Mooney, in his second season at the club, led his side back into the finals, losing three games in the regular season before moving straight through to the grand final after a narrow victory over Boisdale Briagolong in the qualifying final.
Unfortunately they were blown away by the Bombers’ dynamic midfield combination in the second half at the Bairnsdale City Oval in the big dance.
The Magpies will be hoping to bolster their midfield in the off season, with players such as Bairnsdale duo Link McKenna and Matt Corbett likely to be on their shopping list.
Lucknow president Steven Bull is delighted to resign both coaches after incredible effort this year.
“Not only are they brilliant coaches, but they’re also great people, outstanding leaders and along
with their families make our club stronger. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have them back on board,” Bull said.
