Paynesville Motor Cruiser Club held a successful working bee last Saturday morning.
Honorary life member and 2024-25 Commodore Sam Beechey was pleased with the attendance of new committee members and club members who attended.
The morning’s work was organised by leading committee member Chris Kleine with around 15 keen members attending.
Currently the club has just under 100 financial members, a long way from membership tally of more than 300 in days gone by.
Chris said with the enthusiasm of the new committee the club should be looking forward to a positive future to benefit all members.
Chris was happy with the jobs completed during the morning including window washing, stripping of moss and mould from verandahs, gardening and removal of rubbish and fixing and adjusting doors.
Sam was impressed after one member and his wife travelled from Melbourne to help out and also meet new committee members.
Rear Commodore Geoff Smethurst, who is charged with the responsibility of on-water activity, told the working bee attendees he was planning a trip to Refuge Cove for members and a day at the club inviting boat owners who wish to increase their skills berthing and boat handling and using boats with one or two motors.
Geoff said with proper promotion and the cooperation of the local Water Police, Ports and Rescue services it would be a worthwhile event for new motor craft owners as well as visitors to the Lake system as often visitors have simply no idea of rules on the water or good nautical manners.
The Club Restaurant is also planning to be open for Christmas Eve dinner and bookings are essential.
