The Bairnsdale Speedway hosted an incredible nights racing at Granite Rock on Saturday night.
Club officials declaring the night an overwhelming success, with minimal dramas, the night running smoothly, thanks to the great effort by the volunteers, officials, safety crew, crash crew, security team, committee members, and visiting speedway club members.
The weather might have been hot, but the track preparation team did an outstanding job keeping the track up to the mark.
The highlight of the evening was the racing for the state title in the junior 1200 category.
After some spirited racing and competitive competition, Andrew Mitchell came out with the title, finishing ahead of Chase Doherty, Dane Murdoch, Ella Sheedy, with Jaylen Knight rounding out the top five.
There was a spectacular crash in qualifying, with Brad Marshall’s car rolling over.
Thankfully Marshall wasn’t harmed, walking away from the paramedic testing as a pass.
Marshall and his car returning for the final to compete after it was passed structurally safe.
Warrick Taylor was too slick in the unlimited sedans, finishing well ahead of Corey McDonald and Anthony McKean.
Taylor from Daylesford posted a new 15 lap track record of four minutes and 38 seconds in the process.
The division two hotrods was won by local driver, Fraser Crittenden, who finished ahead of Troy Wilson and Chris Greaves.
Crittenden set a new six lap track record in the final, of two minutes and two seconds.
Nyora’s Caroline Allen dominated the ladies standard saloon final, proving too good for Bree Walker and Tasharni Murray.

The VSC open standard saloons was hotly contested, with Nathan Miles taking the chequered flag first from Sheedy and Cooper Irons.
The next meeting is on December 26 and will feature sprintcars, ladies and junior standard saloons, limited sportsman, 1200 juniors sedans and sports sedans.
Racing will commence at 5.30pm.
