A combined orders Christmas luncheon and ham raffle was held at the Bairnsdale Masonic Centre on Sunday, December 15, 2024.
The maximum number of 106 people, which included 14 widows, sat down to the free luncheon comprised of hot vegetables or a cold salad with a quarter hot roast chicken.
In fact, every seat available was used and there was only just enough room between tables for people to move around. To the delight of all present a special dessert of a Drumstick ice cream was handed out, which made the catering much easier.
The centre thanked Ron and Bobbie Thaxton, Peter and Deidre Crick and their granddaughters for preparing the meal.
The Lodges in the Far East Gippsland areas, together with the orders meeting in Bairnsdale, as well as the district, gave money to cover the cost of the luncheon.
It was a successful day and no doubt everyone will be looking forward to next year’s Christmas function.
Twenty-four hams were won and given out to brethren, partners or widows. The hams went to destinations at Omeo, Orbost, Lakes Entrance, Maffra, Sale, Traralgon and Bairnsdale.
