South Pines Golf Club is the 2024/25 Golf East Gippsland Women’s Sunday Pennant champions after defeating Bairnsdale Golf Club at Maffra Golf Club last Sunday.
Both sides went into the clash having won three of their four matches during the season, but it was South Pines who dominated the finale, victorious 5-0.
Winners for South Pines were Lucy Haussegger (3/2), Tania Holmes (2up), Celia Wallace (2up), Jenny Ellis (5/4) and Rebecca Vickery (1up).
Captain Wallace was thankful of the efforts of Kathryn Butler and Jan Pennycuick who played in the group section for South Pines.
Bairnsdale was represented by Mary Anne Emerton, Nadine
Martin, Cecilia Stewart, Vanessa Stokes and promising youngster Maddison Kelly.
Both clubs were thankful of the support Golf East Gippsland women’s captain Chris Munday and her team for continuing to support Sunday Pennant, and to participating clubs for making the course available to pennant players (Bairnsdale, Sale, Newry, Maffra, and South Pines).
The draw was released this week for the 2025 Golf East Gippsland men’s pennant competition, to begin on April 27, followed up by matches on May 4 and 18, with the grand finals to be played on May 25 at South Pines Golf Club.
