Australia Day was a time of special celebration for Dot Walker – it was the day Dot became 90 years young.
Approximately 100 of her family and friends gathered from near and far to help celebrate her surprise lunch held in the Johnsonville Hall.
Dot’s daughters travelled from interstate to organise the day, along with many willing local helpers.
The fact that it remained a secret was no mean feat, given the number of people involved. Dot thought she was going to share birthday wishes with a friend of hers, whose birthday is also January 26.
Dot, or Dotty, has been a lifelong old-time dancer and still enjoys this activity each week, regularly taking her turn at presenting the music for the Saturday night dance at Picnic Point Hall and assisting at the Johnsonville dances.
Also on Dot’s busy calendar are her love of country music, singing and playing her guitar, weekly table tennis and involvement in local activities.
