SAPPHIRECOAST - SPRING 2024 - MERIMBULA 11 Catch a‘big screen’movie in Merimbula Family owned and operated for more than 20 years, The Picture Show Man Twin Cinema in Merimbula is the place to go for big-screen movies and the full 'candy bar, choctop and popcorn' experience. Managing Director, Jesse Tankard, said that catching a movie is a great idea for kids who need a break from the beach, and parents who need a break from the kids! "We believe there is nothing quite like going to the movies, where you get to sit in air-conditioned comfort and enjoy the big-screen experience," Jesse said. The cinema screens a wide range of genres, from animated kids' flicks, romantic tearjerkers, and rollicking comedies, to high-octane action movies and thought-provoking dramas. Australia’s top kite surfers set to compete in Merimbula The best of Australia's kite surfers will converge on Merimbula's Main Beach from 21-24 November this year for the Wave Kite Surfing Nationals. Hosted by the Merimbula Sailboard Club, this four-day kite-surfing spectacular is an evolution of the long-running annual Merimbula Classic. It will also incorporate a stand-up paddle surfing event, run by the Longboard SUP Revolution. John Smythe from the Merimbula Sailboard Club said there'll be "plenty of action" on and off the water. "The Merimbula Classic has taken on a new look for our 43rd annual event, and along with all the colour and action of the kite-surfing and stand-up paddle surfing events, we'll be holding a food and music event on the Friday night (22 November), as well as a special live-music event at Club Sapphire on Saturday night, featuring popular northern beaches band Micro," John said. "We'll also be holding fun social barbecues at various times throughout the event. "It will be a special four days for competitors, with lots of colourful water-based thrills and spills for spectators too."
