Project funding

Project funding

Six projects will receive funding via East Gippsland Shire’s 2018/19 Capital Discretionary Fund (CDF) following approval by council at its December 4 meeting.

Each year, funding is allocated within the shire’s capital budget for the CDF for projects up to $25,000 so long as they are able to be capitalised and are able to demonstrate alignment with overarching principles set out in the Capital Discretionary Policy.

The CDF allows for the funding of ‘quick win’ capital works that align with council’s plans and strategies, but have not been able to be prioritised in the capital works program through the usual budget processes.

The fund allows council to be responsive to community needs and changing conditions that could not be anticipated.

Projects gaining funding through the second round of CDF funding for 2018 are: Community information sign Bullumwaal Road, Wy Yung $10,000; Additional furniture at various playgrounds (e.g. seating) $18,665; Omeo/Ensay shelter for an engine relic from past gold mining activity $16,350; Apex Park Wy Yung installation (only) of playground equipment $10,900; Modernisation of Howitt Park BMX track $19,620; and Lindenow netball courts expansion joints $10,900.
