Specialist school leaders elected

Specialist school leaders elected

East Gippsland Specialist School captains and house leaders for the 2019 school year were presented with their badges with a leadership assembly at the school last Thursday.

Education Department senior education improvement leader for the local area, Tony Roberts, was special guest and said he is always loves visiting the East Gippsland Specialist School.

“I love all the students and the positive energy,” Mr Roberts said.

“I am really proud of all the leaders presented here today.

“I thank the staff at the school. Every time I come to the school I am amazed at the beautiful job you do, caring for the students, teaching the students, it’s fantastic.

“Often I see the older students helping the younger students, just guiding them in a really nice way. I see it done all the time.

“What a fine bunch of leaders you all are and we know as you are leaders you are not being bossy, you’re just helping people when you can. It’s fantastic. Congratulations everybody.”

On behalf of the new school leaders, Nikkita Kilby, addressed the gathering.

“Thank you all for coming today to our school badge presentation,” Nikkita said.

“Congratulations to all the students that were elected for school leadership.

“Let’s make 2019 a great year. Please remember to follow our school matrix of being safe, being respectful and being a learner.”

All of the student leaders were voted into their positions by other students and staff, with everyone provided the opportunity to have their say.

School captains for 2019 are Blair Cooper and Nikkita Kilby, while house leaders are Nikita Seiler and Jessica Chatfield (Murla), Skie Roberts and Oska Ciccia (Narran), Lorraine Hood and Anny Strickland (Toonalook), and Chelsy Philpotts and Ben Abel (Bu-Look).
