Man arrested over missing campers

Detectives from the Missing Persons Squad have arrested a man as part of the investigation into missing campers, Russell Hill and Carol Clay.
The 55-year-old Caroline Springs man was arrested at about 5.30pm yesterday and is currently being interviewed by police.
Police have said the investigation into the matter remains ongoing and "further information will be released when operationally appropriate to do so”.
Mr Hill, 74, and Ms Clay, 73, were last heard from on March 20, 2020, while camping in the Wonnangatta Valley.
Mr Hill had been in contact with his friend, a Bairnsdale man, via amateur radio late on the afternoon of March 20
Campers found the burnt out campsite of Mr Hill and Ms Clay the following day.
Mr Hill’s Toyota LandCruiser was parked beside the campsite, near Dry River Creek Track.
The pair has not been seen or heard from since.
Earlier this month, police released images of a blue four-wheel-drive, believed to be a mid-to-late-1990s model Nissan Patrol, which was taken by a road safety camera in the area at the time Mr Hill and Ms Clay went missing, in their appeal for public assistance.
