There are growing concerns that the retirement of some of Bairnsdale’s most prominent doctors is likely to create a scarcity of professional medical knowl-edge in East Gippsland.
Long serving doctors, Graham Bromwich, John Urie and Jane Greacen have all retired from their medical practices in recent weeks.
All three doctors were a mainstay of the Bairnsdale medical fraternity.
President of the Rural Doctors Association of Victoria, Rob Phair, told the Advertiser “these doctors have given many decades of service to their communities and it is very difficult to replace them”.
“They will be sorely missed,” Dr Phair said. “It’s certainly a worry that we’re losing a huge amount of medical experience.”
