AFL great Dane Swan to take flight at Lucknow

In a major coup for Lucknow Football Netball Club and the East Gippsland region, five time All-Australian and Brownlow medallist Dane Swan will pull on the boots on Saturday the 26th of June at Lucknow recreation reserve.
In a match expected to be well supported by local football fans, the Magpies will be keen to unleash AFL veteran Dane Swan on the Stratford side who will come to the match full of confidence after a strong season so far.
The Collingwood great has a plethora of accolades including the Brownlow Medal (2011), AFLCA Player of the year (2010) and 5 x All-Australian Selection (2009-2013) and brings invaluable experience and talent to the struggling Lucknow Magpies’ lineup.
Senior player and former coach Rhys Robinson who was instrumental in luring the AFL great to the Magpies nest said of the match “It’s been a tough couple of years for all Gippslanders’, what with bushfires, COVID-19 and now floods. This game is a great opportunity to see an AFL legend take the field with the Magpies and it feels like a reward for all those within the club and region who have been doing it really tough”.
