Tomorrow marks the third annual on-farm ram sale for Scott McCole and Sharon Miles, of Tambo White Suffolks, with inspections opening at 11am.
The couple will offer 40 rams featuring Kurralea and Ashley Park bloodlines at their on-property sale.
“We aim to breed commercial, easy doing rams that produce good fat lambs,” Scott McCole said.
“We’re after structurally sound sheep with an emphasis on eye muscle and fat depth.
“The lamb job is looking pretty good at the moment, and it was good to see one of our clients top the Bairnsdale sale on Monday with fat lambs at $220 a head.”
After purchasing a line of Ian Kyle’s Ashley Park White Suffolk ewes last year, Scott said the bloodlines are already coming through and have added better depth and genetics.
At last year’s sale, rams went to local farms around Swifts Creek and Omeo, as well as Sale, Buchan and Bairnsdale.
Elders selling agent, Aaron McCole, said there had been a fair bit of enquiry leading up to the sale.
“The Merino producers looking for easy lambing have been impressed and the feedback has actually been quite good from past buyers,” he said.
There will be a barbecue lunch provided, with the sale beginning at 1pm, 27 Holland/O’Briens Road, Swifts Creek.
Eye muscle and fat depth data will be available on the day.
