The highlight of round 11 of the East Gippsland football was the dominant win by Lucknow over Boisdale Briagolong at the Lucknow Oval on Saturday.
Boisdale Briagolong headed into the match with plenty of confidence after defeating second placed Lindenow the previous week by 50 points and many people were of the opinion this may be a danger game for the inform Magpies.
Obviously know one told Lucknow’s Darren Allen. After an even first quarter, the Pies rammed home seven goals to three in the second quarter to assert their authority on the match. Allen was superb kicking three goals for the term, his clean onehanded pick up on the wing at speed followed by a dashing run and baulk, finishing with with a 55 metre kick that hit young Jackson Smith laces out, was just one moment of magic.
It appeared to mesmerise several of the Bombers players as the Magpies kicked four goals in following five minutes to establish a break.
An 11-goal to one second half saw the margin balloon to 91 points, showing why Lucknow could well be the side that snatches the double chance from Stratford and Lindenow in the coming weeks.
