Eagle Point’s Luke Missen has added another incredible chapter to his remarkable sporting career, winning a gold medal as part of the Australian basketball team competing at the World Dwarf Games in Cologne, Germany.
The World Dwarf Games are the largest international sporting event held exclusively for athletes with dwarfism. Its goal is to attract athletes from around the world to participate in sports that include basketball, soccer, track and field, volleyball, swimming, table tennis, badminton, floor hockey, bocce, archery, indoor kurling, powerlifting and marksmanship.
Missen competed in the soccer, badminton and basketball. In excess of 500 athletes from across 20 countries were represented in the games.
In the soccer, his team made it through to the quarterfinals, before losing in a penalty shootout.
In the open men’s singles in the badminton, he’s pet event, he was defeated in the quarter finals by the eventual gold medallist.
