“Sun, smiles and success” is how Bairnsdale Show organising committee member, Tegan Roberts, described the 142nd Bairnsdale Show last weekend.
The Bairnsdale and District Agricultural Show Society rallied hard this year with many road bumps along the way, however they didn’t let it dampen their ambition to put on a show.
“The searing heat had us worried at the start, then came a cool change that literally blew us away. We would like to thank everyone for helping when things went south as well as being very understanding when we had to alter plans due to the wind,” Tegan said.
“With annual events such as the pie eating competition, the wearable art and single stem rose we also welcomed new events this year with the Tambo Honey cake competition and the Forge Creek pavlova challenge. Free entertainment for showgoers was organised with the likes of Fairy Julianne, Ranger Nick, whipcracker Emiliqua East, Black Snake Productions, wood chops as well as local singers coming to show off their vocal talents.
“We had many animal attractions as well as a brilliant turnout for the horse events over two days.
“We had many local vendors showing off their talents as well as more food than our bellies could contain.”
