Country Women’s Association (CWA) Bairnsdale Amaroo branch held its meeting on Monday, August 5, in the Bairnsdale Bridge Club Hall.
Olivia Harwood welcomed members plus visitor, Robyn Johnston, from the Rosebud branch in the Mornington Peninsula, and Debbie Knowles, a prospective new member.
The association was pleased to see JoAnn back from her trip to Canada. JoAnn is the country of study researcher with Romania being the country of study for 2024.
JoAnn spoke on the beautiful landscapes, Dracula’s Castle, Bran Castle and Peles Castle.
Other buildings include Palace of Parliament, the Voronet Monastry and Danube Delta on the black sea with the pelicans.
After the meeting the group had lunch which was provided by Lois and Olivia.
The product of study for 2024 is pulses (lentils, chick peas, barley etc.).
Lois made soup from these products and Olivia made an apple-based desert with a meringue
topping, the meringue made from chick pea juice.
In all it was an enjoyable lunch.
Members take non perishable goods to the meetings to go to Neighbourhood House Foodbank with Olivia delivering them after the meeting. Also, Olivia is still providing scones to the Library After Dark for supper one night a month, which is very welcoming.
At the club’s craft day on Tuesday, July 23, Karen made hand warmers with the help from the ladies including two visitors being Robyn Johnston from Rosebud and Shirley’s daughter who was visiting. Lois made a baby wrap which will go to A Better Life For Foster Kids.
The club’s next meeting is on Monday, September 2, 9.30am for 10am start.
